About
Holmes Fence Company started with a vision for better family life. In 2017, Jarrod was working with his father-in-law installing commercial playgrounds all over the Southeastern United States. This required a lot of travel, and as Jarrod and his wife started building a family, the travel put more of a strain on things. It was the moment that their first child took her first steps while he was out of town that he knew something needed to change. During his 3+ years of playground installs, he saw countless times that the playgrounds needed fences and it was essentially the same thing he was already doing- layout the project, dig some holes, install the posts in concrete, then build upon the posts! The research began and it was in May of 2019 that Jarrod stepped down from installing playgrounds and began the journey of entrepreneurship.
From May 2019 to October 2022, Jarrod partnered with his father-in-law under the umbrella of Hammer Down Outdoor Creations. It was during this time that Jarrod's sister, Jaime Lee, came on board and quickly moved from part-time assistant to full-time administration, estimation, and, now, management! Jaime Lee has a background in children's education but realized along the way that the low income and long hours away from her own family didn't align with her own family vision. Working with Jarrod allowed her to work from home three of the five days of the week and also have the two days a week doing fence quotes for a nice family/work balance. It was also during this time that Jarrod also got his real estate license and joined the largest real estate brokerage in Chattanooga, Keller Williams Realty. It was a perfect storm of being bi-vocational where the team began installing fences for some of Chattanooga's top producing real estate agents and earned the trust of dozens of high performing agents and found the niche of installing a high quality fences for clients that needed it done quickly. In October 2022, Jarrod branched out from HDOC to start Holmes Fence Company with the vision to expand by partnering with other high quality fence installers to better serve our clients.
During the last few years we've heard "we would not be where we are now [thriving] if it weren't for you guys" from our installers. It warms our hearts to know we've not only improved our own family life through the business of fence installation, we have bettered the lives of hundreds of families by providing a safe place for their children and pets to play, and we continue to better the lives of our employees with work they can be proud of and a wage that provides well for all families involved.
